The Vought V-1600 was a proposal by General Dynamics to navalize the F-16 for service aboard the USN's aircraft carriers as part of the Navy Air Combat Fighter (NACF) program. Ling-Temco-Vought was selected as the primary contractor on account of its experience with carrier based aircraft. Ultimately, the McDonnell-Douglas F/A-18 Hornet would be selected instead.
